An informative article about Malaysia.

Toyota USA has debuted the GR86 Special Edition that’s limited to just 860 units to celebrate the ‘pure fun of sports car driving’.

The second-generation GR86 is sold exclusively in the Solar Shift orange paint, with black stripes on its rear quarter. The forged wheels are 18-inch in size from the GR catalogue paired with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, complementing the black ducktail spoiler.

The GR86 Special Edition also gets a GR catback performance exhaust system with stainless steel pipes and black chrome tips but there was no mention of increased output.

Save to assume, the GR86 Special Edition still produces 235 hp and 249 Nm from a larger 2.4-litre naturally-aspirated boxer engine with 6-speed automatic or manual transmissions available. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is completed in just 6.3 seconds.

There was no mention on the interior although Toyota mentioned that it would come with leather/Ultrasuede seats. Standard features include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, GR start-stop button, dual-zone air-conditioning, Track mode, Active Sound Control, LED head and tail lamps.

Locally, there’s no word on the GR86 for now although Subaru has been busy collecting orders for the BRZ. It starts from RM229,245 (on-the-road, without insurance) for the manual variant, and RM239,245 for the automatic but those figures have seen been increased by RM20k.
