Hidden in the residential neighborhood of Batu Lanchang, The Secret Tunnel is one of the latest additions in Penang… offering a Thai-influenced menu, not quite the usual Thai menu though. Their signature dish is Thai Braised Pork Trotter and Poached Chicken, along with some specialties like Char Koay Teow and Fried Chicken… or something along the line. There is no noodle dish unfortunately. But items are reasonably priced; save for the slightly chaotic order-serving system, the restaurant is worth checking out.

Thai-styled Poached Chicken (Rm 22/ half bird)

Char Koay Teow (Rm 8/ small)

Fish Ball Seaweed Soup (Rm 6/ large)

Orange Juice (Rm 3.90) and Apple Juice (Rm 3.90)

We had their signature Thai-styled Poached Chicken on their recommendation- we loved how silky smooth the texture was, they were good on their own but even better with the addition of their Thai-styled Chili sauce. We enjoyed the Poached Chicken with their Garlic Rice. The Char Koay Teow and Fish Ball Seaweed Soup were less-impressive; the Char Koay Teow was clumpy in texture, the noodles were not evenly cooked while the Seaweed Soup was terribly bland as if it was Fish Balls served in plain water. Save for the Poached Chicken, the rest of the dishes we had were disappointing; would go back probably only for their Poached Chicken and perhaps, the Braised Pork Trotter if any.
