Thailand’s roads are about to get a lot classier with the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift

A great post about Malaysia.

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift has now made its way into Thailand. Three variants are on offer for the executive sedan over in the Kingdom – E 300e Avantgarde, E 220d AMG Sport, and E 300e AMG Dynamic – with prices starting at THB 3.19 million (~RM429k).

Introduced globally in March last year, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class bears an extensively updated exterior design, along with updated powertrains and additional features on board.

In terms of styling, the E 220d will be offered solely with an AMG Sport exterior package, while buyers of the E 300e will have a choice between AMG or Avantgarde styling cues. As usual, the AMG bodykit will include more aggressive-looking bumpers, alongside a diamond pin grille.

Both AMG models get 19-inch alloys to match their sportier exterior – a 10-spoke design on the E 300e AMG Dynamic, and a five twin-spoke for the E 220d AMG Sport. The Avantgarde meanwhile, is shod in 18-inch wheels at the corners. Capping off the looks for the range-topping E 300e AMG Dynamic is the MultiBeam LED headlights.

Cars

The facelifted Mercedes-Benz E-Class, as their model names suggest, is offered in two distinct powertrain options over in Thailand. The E 220d features a two-litre Euro-6 certified four-cylinder turbodiesel, which makes 194 hp and 400 Nm, while the E 300e is equipped with an electrified 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol hybrid, pushing 320 hp and 700 Nm to the wheels.

Both powerplants are mated to a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission with gearshift pedals. Performance wise, the plug-in hybrid E 300e does the century sprint in 5.7 seconds, onward to a top speed of 250 km/h, while the turbodiesel completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 240 km/h.

Moving inside, the AMG models once again get all the goodies, including the all-new three twin-spoke sport steering wheels, replete with touch-activated buttons, alongside a Burmester surround sound system with 13 speakers.

The twin 12.3-inch instrument cluster and infotainment display combo however, now running the latest MBUX system, is standard across the board. Also included on the Thai-specification Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift is the Mercedes me connected services, similar to what we have here in Malaysia.

As for safety, Mercedes-Benz’s suite of advanced driver assistance systems is standard across all three variants, with features including the Pre-Safe autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, Blind Spot Assist, Lane Change Assist, and Active Parking Assist. The 360-degree surround-view monitor feature, however, is exclusive to the range-topping E 300e AMG Dynamic variant.
