Nothing Ear (1) Are Now Official: Featuring Transparent Body and Up To 34 Hours of Battery Life

July 27, 2021 By Keith

A great article on Penang Malaysia.

After a long tease, Carl Pei and his team at Nothing today have officially revealed the company’s first-ever product, the Ear (1) true wireless earbuds. Featuring translucent bodies, the earbuds looked way more refined than the original Concept 1 prototypes that the company showcased back in March.

Equipped with 11.6mm graphene-based dynamic drivers, the Ear (1) are tuned by Teenage Engineering who joined Nothing as a founding partner last February. Each earbud also comes with three high-definition microphones which helped delivers the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature on them.

Android

Nothing said that Ear (1) users have two ANC modes to choose from including Light and Maximum while they can also activate the Transparency mode when they want to hear the surrounding environment instead. When ANC is on, the IPX4-rated earbuds can last for up to 4 hours which can be extended up to 5.7 hours by turning off the ANC.

Users can gain quickly gain around 1.2 hours of playback time by putting Ear (1) into their charging case for 10 minutes. When combined with their charging case, Nothing claimed that Ear (1)’s battery life can reach up to 34 hours with ANC turned off.

Speaking about the charging case, it also has a transparent body and takes around 52 minutes to be fully charged when using a wired charger. The case can be charged using Qi-compatible wireless chargers as well but the charging time would take much longer at around 2.5 hours.

Nothing has also developed the Ear (1) App for the earbuds which provides additional functionalities such as Find My Earbud, EQ, and customization for ANC and Gesture Control. Users can also take advantage of the earbuds’ far pairing feature on certain Android devices.

Priced at US$99 (~RM 419), Nothing has planned to release the Ear (1) in 45 countries on 17 August although a limited number of units will be released slightly earlier on 31 July through its official website. For now, we don’t have any availability and local pricing for Ear(1) in Malaysia at the moment but we did notice that the company has set up a website for our market right here.

With that, it seems rather possible to see the company release its new earbuds into Malaysia. So, we will keep you in the loop once we hear (heh) more updates about it from Nothing.
