Volkswagen of America has revealed the latest in what they consider to be an enthusiast build, the Atlas Cross Sport GT Concept. Previously, they also revealed a modified Arteon.

It’s powered by the same engine found in the Mk7 Golf R, with a few minor modifications including a turbocharger and front-mounted intercooler from a Golf GTI. That’s enough to give the Sport GT Concept 300 hp, with all-wheel drive capabilities. The Atlas is fitted with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

The Sport GT Concept comes with only four seats and has been hand-painted with the unique Eisvogelblau colour, translating to “Kingfisher Blue”. The same colour is also offered to Volkswagen cars in Europe.

“The launch of the all-new Golf GTI and Golf R got us thinking about how to inject some of that VW magic into our SUVs,” said Volkswagen Group of America.

Aside from the power upgrades, the Altas Cross Sport GT Concept is also lowered with ST Suspension XTA Plus 3 coilovers. The new stance is complemented with 22-inch ABT Sport HR Aerowheels, wrapped in Yokohama tyres.

You may not be able to see them through the wheels but hidden behind are massive 8-pot caliper brakes from Tarox.

“We wanted to push the limits of the production car even further so that it lives up to its GT name,” said VW.

The Eisvogelblau colour is also adopted in the cabin, as seen on the custom Recaro Sportster bucket seats, steering wheel, and floor mats.

Topping off the custom interior seating layout is a one-of-a-kind rear center console, which follows the design of the front unit.
