Khairy: PICK To Begin Vaccinations For Adolescents Aged 12 to 17 Years Old

August 14, 2021 By Keith Leave a Comment

A great article on Malaysia.

The National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) will begin its plan to vaccinate adolescent Malaysians aged 12 to 17-years old soon, according to its coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin via Twitter. The implementation will be based on a priority order that has been recommended by Health director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah to the Special Committee on COVID-19 Vaccine Access Supply (JKJAV).

Khairy explained that PICK will prioritise on vaccinating 12 to 17-year-olds with underlying medical conditions. This is then followed by adolescents of the same age group with no medical issues based on age de-escalation.

An announcement will be made next week by @JKJAV on how COVID-19 vaccinations for adolescents will be implemented as per @DGHisham’s circular and the latest updated clinical guildlines.

Prior to the announcement, a circular published by Noor Hisham yesterday noted that Malaysia is expected to begin vaccinating teenagers from mid-September 2021. The process will involve those aged 12 to 15 who have comorbidities and those aged 16 to 17 with or without health conditions, he added.

On that note, Khairy confirmed in the same thread on Twitter that vaccinations for adolescents will be implemented as per the DG’s circular, as well as following the latest updated clinical guidelines. He also revealed that JKJAV will announce further details regarding the vaccination sometime next week.

PM: Those Who Completed Their Vaccination May Be Allowed To Travel Interstate and Oversea

April 1, 2021 By Keith Leave a Comment

An interesting post about Malaysia.

During the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 town hall session in Kuching earlier today, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin stated that those who have received both of their COVID-19 vaccine doses may be allowed to travel interstate and outside of Malaysia.

While this directive has not yet been made official, the decision to allow interstate travel for the vaccinated individual is something that has been discussed during the National Security Council (MKN) meeting according to PM Muhyiddin. He pointed out that this is not an incentive but more as an encouragement to have the public to be more receptive towards the vaccine.

Singapore FM @VivianBala and I compared our respective vaccination digital certificates that is secured on blockchain. Both countries have a traceability feature that tells you the exact batch your vaccine vial came from. We will ensure interoperability btwn MAS & SG. pic.twitter.com/JaSG3rf5VD

PM Muhyiddin has also revealed that the government has begun the negotiations with several countries to allow Malaysians that have completed their vaccinations and obtained digital vaccination certificate to make their journey to those destinations. He didn’t reveal the said countries but interesting enough, has actually mentioned several locations including Japan, Shanghai, Bangkok, and Jakarta during the session.

According to the statistics from the Special Committee On Ensuring Access to COVID-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), around 7.5 million people have registered for the vaccine as of 11:59 PM on 31 March which is still far below the target. Hence, if you have yet to register for the vaccine, we do recommend you to do it as soon as possible via the MySejahtera app or through JKJAV’s website and hotline.
