Plaque Noire Dessert & Cocktail Bar At Kimberley Street, Georgetown, Penang

April 30, 2019 By Keith Leave a Comment

Penang tips.

The following piece of writing was in fact provided by Ken Hunts Food. They typically provide you with posts of the highest quality and are therefore one of my current must-watch blogs. I’m guessing you’ll enjoy.

The concept of combining two beloved things- desserts and cocktails has been creating excitements at the other parts of the world. Introducing this playful concept to Penang, Plaque Noire is the first of its kind. The proprietor was trained in Taiwan and France before settling down in Penang. Painted in shades of black, the place exudes a mysterious sense; as you walk in, you will be greeted by the friendly servers. The place is not big… only with limited seating but visitors can opt to enjoy their booze at the bar counter or the tables at the end of the bar. Offering-wise, it has a small selection of sweets, which to be changed and updated on monthly-basis; a list of in-house Cocktails and classic blend. Prices however, are on the higher side but the quality is set to impress.

Start off with one of the best sellers- Apple… a beautifully combination of Cinnamon Sable and Red Wine Apple, complete with frozen Cheesecake and Vanilla Ice Cream. The Cinnamon-Apple combo needs no further introduction, the bomb was the Vanilla Ice Cream… deliciously creamy with bold-alluring Vanilla flavor. We were certainly impressed but not until we had Heavenly Chocolate…. a dish not to be missed by Chocolate lovers. The dessert plate gathered everything chocolaty… starting from the nutty Chocolate Brownie and creamy Mascarpone…. to Chocolate Ice Cream and Shards. The combination was multi-dimensional and it did not feel too “heavy” despite of the creamy-chocolaty elements around. Hands-down, one of the best Chocolate creations I’ve ever had.
While lifting up the spoons for the desserts, remember to take a sip on the mixed drinks. Goddess of Love was a little heavy on alcohol; while Summer Splash felt more refreshing with a fruity-touch. 1930’s was a little playful and unusual, as though we were drinking Yakult over Ice; the booziness was kept minimal.
