An interesting post about Penang.

Barely a week after it was revealed to the world, Xiaomi has announced its plan to launch yet another model from the expanded Mi 11 Series family in Malaysia. It will come in the form of the Mi 11 Ultra which is the highest-end model in the series at the moment.

For those who missed our initial report, the Mi 11 Ultra is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 together with 12GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage. It also features a 6.81-inch 120Hz WQHD+ AMOLED screen and another 1.1-inch AMOLED panel with a screen resolution of 126 x 294 on its back.

For photography, the phone relies on a wide-angle main camera that comes with a 50MP Samsung GN2 sensor and f/1.95 lens alongside two 48MP Sony IMX586 sensors for its ultra-wide and 120x telephoto cameras. The Mi 11 Ultra also features 20MP selfie camera, an in-screen fingerprint scanner, dual speakers tuned by Harman Kardon, and a 5000mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging capability for both wired as well as wireless chargers.

According to the company, it will provide the first 200 early-birds who registered their new Mi 11 Ultra online with a Limited Edition Mi Fans Gift Set which includes a Mi Bunny Keychain with name engraving as well as a Mi Fan Fest 2021 t-shirt.

Malaysia

Priced at RM 4299, eager Mi Fans and smartphone enthusiasts alike are able to pre-order new flagship phone starting from 8 April onwards through Authorized Mi Stores across Malaysia. Alternatively, they can also choose to pre-order it through Xiaomi’s official stores on Lazada and Shopee.

OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro Now Official: Featuring Snapdragon 888, 120Hz Display, Hasselblad Camera

March 23, 2021 By Keith Leave a Comment

A really good article on Malaysia.

Even though these phones have only received their official launch this evening, the existence of the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro have been known for quite some time. In fact, sometimes it seemed that OnePlus was trying to one-up the leakers by revealing details of these phones themselves before their official unveiling tonight.

Nevertheless, now that the company has fully taken the drapes off its new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888-based flagship devices, this means it is finally time to get a slightly closer look at their specs.

Equipped with a 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO AMOLED display that also has 120Hz refresh rate, the OnePlus 9 Pro carries up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS3.1-based internal storage.  On another hand, the standard OnePlus 9 features a smaller 6.55-inch Full HD AMOLED display although it still has the same 120Hz refresh rate together with the same RAM and internal storage options as per its Pro sibling.

One of the biggest attractions for the new OnePlus 9 Series devices is their rear camera module which was co-developed by Hasselblad, a giant within the photography world. On OnePlus 9, its main camera is equipped with a 48MP Sony IMX689 sensor and is being accompanied by 50MP Sony IMX766 ultra-wide, and 2MP monochrome cameras.

Meanwhile, OnePlus has retained the 50MP ultra-wide and 2MP monochrome cameras for the Pro model too but the main camera features a Sony IMX789 48MP sensor instead while there is an 8MP telephoto camera on the phone as well. Both models also come with a selfie camera that has a 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor.

Despite their differences, both phones have the same battery capacity of 4500mAh. They also support the company’s Warp Charge 65T fast charging tech that apparently allows their batteries to be charged from 0-100% in less than 30 minutes. Interesting enough, the power rating of the OnePlus 9’s wireless charging feature is up to 15W but the OnePlus 9 Pro has a much higher ceiling limit at 50W.

Hasselblad

At the moment, OnePlus has not yet revealed the release date and pricing for the OnePlus 9 Series in Malaysia. Just in case you need a reference though, the standard OnePlus 9 with 8GB and 128GB internal storage will be made available in Europe for EUR 699 (~RM 3,418) while the 12GB/256GB variant goes for EUR 799 (~RM 3,908).

On another hand, the OnePlus 9 Pro with 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB options are listed at EUR 899 (~RM 4,397) and EUR 999 (~RM 4,886), respectively.  As per our past experiences with European prices, we foresee that the OnePlus 9 Series devices will likely be released in Malaysia with a much lower price tag and that is something that we will keep you updated once we hear more from OnePlus.

Nokia 5.4 Now Available In Malaysia For RM 899

March 4, 2021 By Keith Leave a Comment

An informative post about Penang Malaysia.

Almost three months after its debut in Europe, the Nokia 5.4 has now made its way to Malaysia. Its availability in our market was confirmed earlier today by HMD Global’s partner in Malaysia, Macpie Distribution.

In general, the Nokia 5.4 brings together several upgrades over its predecessor that was released last year, the Nokia 5.3. For example, the new model is equipped with a 48MP main camera and 16 MP selfie camera as compared to its predecessor which features a 13MP main camera alongside an 8MP selfie camera.

The Malaysian variant of Nokia 5.4 is also equipped with 128GB internal storage which is double the amount of storage space in Nokia 5.3. At the same time, HMD Global has also retained plenty of features from the older model for the new phone including HD+ display, 5MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP macro camera, 4GB RAM, and 4000mAh.

On another hand though, the Nokia 5.4 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 instead of Snapdragon 665. Although this may not look so obvious at a glance, the new phone also has a smaller 6.39-inch display as opposed to Nokia 5.3’s 6.55-inch display.

Price-wise, the new Nokia 5.4 goes for RM 899 and readily available through Nokia Mobile’s official stores on Lazada as well as Shopee. Alternatively, customers can also obtain the new phone directly from Macpie Distribution through its e-store right there.
