February 10, 2022 By Keith

An informative article about Penang Malaysia.

Just like the Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S8 Series, the standard Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus are now readily available for pre-order in Malaysia. In fact, customers that pre-order either of these models at Samsung Malaysia eStore will also receive an RM800 eVoucher that they can use in their next order at the store.

Similarly, a Silicon Case with Strap and Lucky Box will be provided to all pre-order customers as well. The only item that is different for the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus is a Camera Filter Mount that seemed to be specially made for both models.

Galaxy S22 Plus 128GB: RM4,099

Galaxy S22 256GB: RM3,699

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Fold3 Price In Malaysia May Start From RM4,199

August 15, 2021 By Keith

An interesting post about Penang.

During the Galaxy Unpacked August 2021 event earlier this week, Samsung has unveiled two new foldables in the form of Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Fold3. While the company has yet to reveal their availability in our market, we believe we may have stumbled upon their local pricing.

Over the years, we would visit Celcom, Digi, Maxis, and U Mobile’s websites whenever there is a significant smartphone launch by major brands including Samsung to search for information regarding local releases. The majority of the time we couldn’t find anything though until the brands themselves revealed such information to the public.

Celcom

But it looks like things are different for the newly announced foldables. By using “Galaxy Z” as the search keyword on Digi’s website earlier today, to our surprise, the result that we received includes both devices.

According to the listing on Digi’s website, the retail price of Z Flip3 with 256GB internal storage is RM4,199. On another hand, the Z Fold3 256GB is listed as RM6,699 while the 512GB variant goes for RM7,199.

All these screenshots were captured on Digi’s website at 11:51 PM today.

As a comparison, the starting price of Z Flip3 in the United States is US$999.99 (~RM4,238) but that is for the 128GB model. Over there, the 256GB variant of the phone goes for US$1049.99 (~RM4,450) which is noticeably higher than Malaysia.

This also applies to the Z Fold3 as well since the US pricing for the 256GB model is US$1799.99 (~RM7,628) while the 512GB unit is available for US$1899.99 (~RM8,052). Additionally, the launch price of the original Z Flip and Z Fold2 in Malaysia were RM5,888 and RM7,999 respectively, if you want to take their predecessors into consideration.

Of course, we still have to wait for the official announcement from Samsung Malaysia itself regarding the price tag for Z Flip3 and Z Fold3. That being said, the existence of these listings on Digi’s website may suggest that the announcement may take place very soon.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 and Fold3 Official Advert Leaks Out

August 10, 2021 By Keith

An interesting post on Penang Malaysia.

Over the years, leaks have become a common thing in the tech industry, especially within the smartphone world. At times, they even come directly from official sources through accidental releases such as what happened earlier this week for Samsung.

With just mere days away before their official unveiling event which will take place tomorrow’s night 11 August, it seemed like Samsung Malaysia have accidentally published a 30-seconds ad for the new Galaxy Z Flip3 and Fold3 on YouTube. While the company has swiftly pulled it out from distribution, eagled-eyed Redditor paxinfernum has captured and uploaded the video onto Reddit.

Advert Leaks

In general, the video has confirmed the exterior design of both foldable devices which have been extensively leaked before especially by WinFuture. Among features that the short video has highlighted including the larger Cover Screen on Galaxy Z Flip3 and S Pen support for Galaxy Z Fold3.

Interesting enough, the video also includes a fine print which noted (heh) that the device is able to support two different S Pen variants. One of them which is called the S Pen Fold Edition is designed exclusively for Galaxy Z Fold3 while the other one is called the S Pen Pro.

Additionally, there is also another fine print written on the video also said that both foldables are IPX8 devices and have been tested up to the depth of up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. However, the fine print also pointed out that the test was done with freshwater and these devices are not advised for use near the beach or pool.

Furthermore, they are also not dust resistant which is something you may have figured out from their single-digit IP rating. However, the video didn’t provide other details such as pricing or release dates for Malaysia which are the very few details that Samsung still managed to keep as secrets.

Nevertheless, do keep a look for our coverage regarding these new Galaxy devices once they make their official debut or you can tune in live to the Unpacked launch event at 10 PM tomorrow over at Samsung Malaysia’s official website.

Samsung Malaysia Offering RM1100 Rebate For Galaxy Note20 Series Until 4 July

May 31, 2021 By Keith

An interesting article about Penang Malaysia.

Samsung Malaysia today has launched a mid-year sale for its Galaxy Note20 series, offering an attractive RM1,100 rebate for the standard and Ultra variants. Starting today on 31 May until 4 July, customers are able to pick up both phones for only RM3,199 and RM4,199 respectively.

Most of us may have forgotten the specs for two devices since they were launched back in August of last year, so here’s a refresher. Let’s start with the standard Galaxy Note20, which comes with a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Plus Infinity-O display, 8GB RAM, and a 4,300mAh battery with 25W fast charging via USB-C. On its back is a triple camera setup consisting of a 12MP main shooter, 64MP telephoto and 12MP ultrawide, while housed in the display’s punch-hole cutout is a 10MP selfie camera.

The Ultra variant, on the other hand, sports a larger 6.9-inch Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O display with 120Hz refresh rate, 8GB RAM, and a 4,500mAh battery with the same fast charging tech as the standard 5G model. On its back is also a triple camera setup, but featuring different sensors than its smaller sibling. Instead, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is equipped with a 108MP main camera, 12MP telephoto with up to 5x optical zoom and 50x hybrid Space Zoom, as well as a 12MP ultra-wide. Meanwhile, found within the punch-hole cutout on its display is the same 10MP front-facing camera.

Similar features found on either Galaxy Note20 smartphones is the 25W USB-C fast charging support and, of course, the integrated S-Pen accessory. For this particular promotion, the brand is only offering the 256GB storage configuration for both devices.

Also tagging along during the Samsung mid-year sale is the newly launched standard Galaxy A32 model. During this promotion, the brand is offering the 128GB storage configuration of the phone at a discounted price of RM999, which is RM100 off from its original retail price.

Samsung Malaysia noted in its press release that both Galaxy Note20 phones and the Galaxy A32 can be purchased at the aforementioned prices starting today via its Experience Stores nationwide and official online store. However, among the Note20 series, only the Ultra model is available on its website. The standard variant, strangely enough, is listed as “coming soon”.

It is unclear whether the vanilla model is already sold out or is planned to be made available at a later date. Regardless, we’ve reached out to Samsung Malaysia for clarification and will update this article accordingly once we’ve received word from them.

Samsung Is Gearing Up To Launch Neo QLED 8K and 4K Smart TVs In Malaysia

March 13, 2021 By Keith

A great post on Penang Malaysia.

Back at CES earlier this year, Samsung has unveiled Neo QLED which the company has deemed as the next evolution of its QLED display technology. Available as 8K and 4K models, these new Neo QLED Smart TVs will be making their way to Malaysia soon.

The company recently has added Neo QLED Smart TVs into the catalogue on its Malaysian website. According to the listing, all four Neo QLED models will be released into our market including the top-of-line model, the QN900A.

As shown on Samsung Malaysia’s website on 12 March 2021.

Aside from their exterior design, among the main differences between the QN900A and the other Neo QLED 8K model which is the QN800A is their HDR performance. Samsung’s website said that the QN900A offers Quantum HDR 64x as opposed to the Quantum HDR 32x on QN800 except for the 65-inch variant of QN900A that maxes out at Quantum HDR 48x.

Other than that, the QN900A also has a higher sound output at 80W as compared to 70W for QN800A. Additionally, the Object Tracking Sound (OTS) technology implementation on the QN900A which is called OTS Pro supposedly much better than the OTS+ on QN800A although the sound is something that you need to hear for yourself before passing any judgement.

Meanwhile, it seems that those differences also apply to the QN90A and QN85A which are the two Neo QLED 4K models that have been listed on Samsung Malaysia’s website. For example, the HDR rating of QN90A is listed as Quantum HDR 32x while the QN85A carries Quantum HDR 24x label with it.

Equipped with a 4.2.2 surround sound system, Samsung has also implemented OTS+ on the QN90A as opposed to the standard OTA setup for QN85A which comes with a 2.2.2 sound system. Despite that, both models have the same audio output rating of 60W.

Samsung Malaysia Reduces Galaxy S20 FE 5G Price To RM 2999

February 20, 2021 By Keith

An informative article about Penang.

With the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Series earlier this year, one may expect that the models from its successor can be obtained at a lower price point. That is indeed the case with the Galaxy S20 FE 5G which was originally released in Malaysia in October last year.

The phone arrival in our market was received with quite a fanfare as it was the only Qualcomm Snapdragon-based Galaxy S20 model that was released in Malaysia while the rest of its sibling were equipped with the Exynos processor. Powered by Snapdragon 865, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G also features a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display with 120Hz refresh rate.

Samsung has also equipped the phone with a 12MP main camera alongside another 12MP ultra-wide camera as well as an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom capabilities. On the front, there is also a 32MP selfie camera.

In addition to having 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage, completing its general specifications is a 4500mAh battery that supports fast wired and wireless charging with a power rating of up to 25W and 15W respectively. The Galaxy S20 FE 5G is also able to deliver reverse wireless charging output up to 4.5W.

When it was released in Malaysia five months ago, the phone command a price tag of RM 3,399 but now you can obtain it for RM 400 off at RM 2,999. Alternatively, you can also choose to get the LTE variant of Galaxy S20 FE which has also received a price cut from RM 2,699 to RM 2,299 but still couldn’t beat the rather odd RM 2,099 deal back in January.
