MBPP Upgrades And Beautify Alleys In George Town

February 19, 2021 By Keith Leave a Comment

A really good post about Penang Malaysia.

The City Council of Penang (MBPP) is always making efforts to ensure that our island is a better place to live in. We heard that they’re in the process of upgrading the alleys in George Town, this is such an awesome news! Bid goodbye to dark and shady alleys, they now look so beautiful, perhaps even great for photos!

According to its recent update on Facebook, MBPP is in the process of upgrading the back & side alleys of UNESCO World Heritage Site, George Town. This includes the side alley that connects Beach Street and Victoria Street, Carnavon Street to Jalan Pintal Tali, and Lorong Selamat.

Four backlanes of Kampung Malabar, Armenian Street and Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling are also given a makeover. Once dark and shady, these alleys are now bright and beautiful. This is part of the government’s effort to create pathways for pedestrians and bicycle that are 9 kilometers long.

It is such a relief to see that we’ll no longer have to walk on dark and dirty alleys. MBPP hopes that by beautifying these places, there’ll be more green spaces in the city. These alleys could also potentially be a new spot for leisure and socializing.

Foodies, what do you think of such efforts? As a Penangite, we are all responsible in maintaining and taking care of the island. Let us all do our part in making sure these alleys don’t go back to their old forms. That’s all, take care and buh bye!
