Kompleks Makanan Persiaran Gurney (KMPG) located along the Gurney Drive seafront promenade is small by any standard, and is occupied by Mamak hawker stalls. Despite its size, the place has a reputation of offering delicious mee goreng and pasembor, also known as Indian rojak.
The Edgecumbe Road pasembor stall has a wide selection of specialty items besides the basic ingredients. All the fresh and fried items are neatly displayed and its prices written on the board.
A basic plate of pasembor comes with strips of cucumber, sengkuang (yam bean), blanched bean sprouts, crispy bits of crackers, cucur udang (deep-fried prawn fritters), slices of bean curd, hard-boiled egg and boiled potatoes. The ingredients are then drizzled with an orange-ish spicy and sweet peanut sauce.
The choices of beverages are aplenty and the favorites are the refreshing coconut drink and the three layer iced-tea. The latter has the comforting flavors of tea (on the top layer), milk and gula Melaka (palm sugar). Needless to say, the cool coconut drink is a great match to the spicy food.
