The Vanilla Cafe By Kairos @ Kubang Semang, Penang.

July 1, 2021 By Keith Leave a Comment

A great article on Malaysia.

A 10 minute drive away from Penanti Toll via BKE Highway will land you at The Vanilla Cafe, next to a farm that produces Vanilla Pods. The brand has bagged some awards and has some proud accolade like churning out Malaysians’ own grown Vanilla Pods. The cafe is air-conditioned and offers a comfortable environment to enjoy the food. It does not have a main menu but some light snacks as well as an array of sweet treats; while not all are applicable, some dishes are made from the ingredients grown from the farm. Though it is a little off the beaten track, the place is worth a look if you are looking for an opportunity to escape from the city buzz.

The Traditional Beancurd Skin left us with the deepest impression- deep fried crispy Beancurd Skin and Watercress leaves served with drizzles of Rojak sauce; it was simple but delicious. The Watercress leaves were very fresh and crisp while the Beancurd Skin was addictively crispy and surprisingly not greasy at all. The drizzles of Rojak sauce was just right on the dot- there was no excess and the amount was just right. The Vanilla Tiramisu was good- creamy and packed a strong Coffee punch but to comment on whether the Vanilla flavor stood out… no, we did not think so. We thought the Coffee flavor overshadowed the Vanilla. For the same simple reason, we wanted to try if the Vanilla Ice Cream was good and so we had their Premium Vanilla Soft Serve in Glass. The Soft Serve was not as creamy as we would have hoped but a little icy to our liking. The Vanilla flavor was there but could be bolder. For Rm 8.90, we thought it was a little overpriced.
