The 2019 Kia Cerato has been spotted in Malaysia again, this time by reader Muhammad Hafiy Azim Abdul Aziz in Wangsa Maju, KL. It’s not the first time – the third-generation C-segment sedan was displayed at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) in November last year, before our Jonathan Lee snapped one in the wild on the Federal Highway in April.

Unlike the test mule we last spotted, this one wears a full camo wrap, with cutouts only for the lamps and black plastic bits. Like before, it wears relatively small 16-inch turbine-style alloy wheels with high profile tyres.

The latest Cerato gets a more dynamic design that takes a few cues from the Stinger sports sedan, with sweptback headlights, slim “tiger nose” grille, a longer bonnet, sweeping glasshouse and short tail for that fastback look. Inside, there’s a horizontal dashboard layout with the now-familiar floating infotainment screen and round air vents at the corners.

Measuring 4,640 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,440 mm tall, the new Cerato is 80 mm longer, 20 mm wider and 5 mm taller than the car we’re familiar with, although the 2,700 mm wheelbase remains. Kia says that the increased dimensions improve both head and legroom, while boot capacity has been increased from 482 to 502 litres.

The structure features an additional hot-stamped components and 54% advanced high-strength steel content, and uses 105 metres of structural adhesive — five times more than before. Suspension is handled by a MacPherson strut front and torsion beam rear setup.

Should it be coming in the near future to challenge the Honda Civic, Mazda 3 and all-new Toyota Corolla Altis (just launched in Thailand and possibly coming soon), expect the Malaysian-spec Cerato to carry-over the 2.0 litre Nu naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 150 hp/192 Nm, paired to a six-speed automatic. This is the same powertrain that is offered in Australia, whereas some other markets get a revised version of the same motor and an Intelligent Variable Transmission CVT.

Is the battered C-segment sedan class – once the default choice or wheels – staging a mini revival in the face of an onslaught by the SUV? Sedan or SUV for you?

April 27, 2019 By Keith Leave a Comment

Penang Malaysia tips and news.

The following submission was indeed created by Penang Foodie. They will typically have posts of the highest quality consequently they are no doubt one of my current must-watch blog writers. I think you will get something out of it.

Before jumping into the fun water-splashing part, let’s get ourselves educated on what’s Songkran all about aye. Unbeknownst to many, Songkran is an important event on the Buddhist calendar, this water festival marks the beginning of the traditional Thai New Year. The name ‘Songkran’ comes from a Sanskrit word meaning ‘passing’ or ‘approaching’. Though over the years, Songkran has evolved into something really fun. Still, let’s not forget the real reason why we celebrate it!

The most exciting part about this food festival? When you buy and enjoy snacks from the food festival, you’re simultaneously also contributing to a charity course. Yes, you heard me right! In association with YANA Charity Association, the main aim of the food festival is to raise funds for SJK(C) Keng Koon.

SRJK(C) Keng Koon is currently sourcing for funds to help expend the compound and capability of the school to accommodate more students in the incoming years. The number of students they have right now as we’re speaking is around 1, 200 students divided into morning and afternoon classes. With no field nor parking spots for the parents, the school is looking for a solution to solve their problems.

Their solution lies within purchasing more compounds for the expanding plans of the school. Before they jump into the project, they’re targetting to purchase the land surrounding the school compound worth of 3.3 million – 1.9 in acres. They’ll need all the help they can get! Peeps, let’s not hesitate to offer some help!

How Do I Help?

There are 2 ways to how you can help. First of all, the fees collected from the food stalls in the Food Festival will be donated to SRJK(C) Keng Koon. Not just that, donation booth will be set up during the day itself so you can head over there to make your donation be it big or small, it’s the heart that matters most! Or, you can make the donation straight to YANA Charity Association. Either way, your help is much needed!

With 60 stalls waiting for you to come and explore them, you can now enjoy delicious bite-sized food and refreshing beverages, buy handmade fragrant soup and shop for your dog’s articles of clothing all under one roof. Before I get going, there’s also a booth dedicated to dogs and puppies who are in need of a cosy and belonging home that only you can give. They’re up for adoption! If you’re a responsible person and also looking for a true buddy, you’d find one here! Always adopt!
