An informative post about Malaysia.

On the opening day of the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Polestar has brought what looks like a regular Polestar 2 with an event-exclusive paint job. The company revealed that an experimental Polestar 2 has been driven around the 1.86-kilometre hill climb course in rainy weather conditions.

The dual motors in the Polestar 2 Experimental now produce a combined 476 hp (350 kW) or an additional 68 hp (50 kW).  No mention of the new torque figures, but the regular setup has 660 Nm and powered by a 78 kWh battery pack.

“I challenged the design and engineering teams to play with Polestar 2 and come up with something that makes a strong statement for Goodwood,” comments Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.

“For a few months, I have enjoyed driving another experimental Polestar 2, nicknamed ‘Beast’, around our Gothenburg campus, which inspired the team to come up with this version for Goodwood. We want to flex our muscles and explore opportunities.”

Handling has also been beefed up for the “Beast”, suspended by significantly uprated adjustable Ohlin three-way performance dampers with 80% stiffer front spring setting and 40% higher value at the rear.

Tracks and thus wheel arches have been widened by 10 mm to accommodate larger Pirelli P Zero Rosso performance tyres measuring 275/30R21 which coincidentally come from the Polestar 1 high-performance hybrid Gran Tourer with 1,000 Nm and 609 hp of system output.

Further chassis enhancement includes a carbon fibre front suspension strut bar from a Volvo S60 Polestar Engineered and a custom-fabricated rear strut bar. The Akebono 6-piston caliper braking system is also directly lifted from the Polestar 1.

Polestar to introduce high-performance SUV next year, to be made in the USA.

Exterior changes are limited to a new front and rear bumper design and a gorgeous Snow Matte paintwork subtly highlighted by Magnesium Matte racing stripe.

The Polestar 2 Experimental will be piloted by Polestar’s lead chassis engineer, Joakim Rydholm, who also piloted the Polestar 1 at the 2018 edition of the famous “moving motorshow” hill climb weekend event.
