Well, this was my first visit to Little Penang Street Market and I was totally amazed at the range and quality of everything on offer. The music was exceptional and it was a great afternoon out in the blazing sun.
Plenty of food on offer and we had to buy some of the exceptional herb plants on offer at the Urban Gardens stall run by James Rozells and the quality of Mark Halls photography deserves a mention to say the least. He captures Georgetown Heritage architecture like nobody else I have seen.
I had the good fortune to meet the Ladies from the International Women’s Association (IWA) who do an absolutely fabulous job keeping the international communities connected and informed, not to mention meeting up for some excellent cheese and wine parties and of course the charitable causes they support and champion on Penang.
“The primary purpose of IWA Penang is to provide a support network for expatriate families living in Penang. IWA offers various social, cultural and sporting activities for its members. In addition, the organisation is very involved in community service projects within Penang, especially those associated with women and children. IWA Penang supports those charities with its fund-raising efforts, and a strong volunteer program.”
The next event to be promoted by the IWA Penang is “A Christmas World” which is a fund-raising event for local charities in which they are bringing together gifts and handicrafts, food and mulled wine, much fun and entertainment for the entire family and at a price we can all afford – FREE. Remember to come along and spend freely as all the proceeds go towards local charities – it is Christmas after all!!
Little Penang Street Market is a great day out for all the family and if you happen to be on holiday in the last Sunday of the month then add it to your must-do list – it’s on mine now for every month!!
