BUTTERWORTH: An Indonesian factory worker was injured in a minor explosion at Dynapharm (M) Sdn Bhd factory at about 1.15pm near Prai Industrial Park today.
State Fire and Rescue Department chief Azmi Tamat said the victim, Rachel Supadmi was found trapped under the rubble in a secondary packaging room on the ground floor.
He said the department received a distress call at 1.21pm and sent six fire engines and two hazmat team from Perda fire station involving 38 personnel to the scene.
“We received three distress call on a fire, a building collapsed and a minor explosion before arriving at the scene four minutes later.
“We were divided into two teams where one team put out the fire while the other searched for victims,” he said at the scene.
He said initial investigation reveal that the explosion had started at the production area at the factory that producing a Chinese herbal generic pharmaceutical products.
Azmi said the victim in her 30’s was sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital and was reported to be in a stable condition.
