An interesting article on Penang.

German third-party tuning company AC Schnitzer is now offering a ‘tuning’ package for the all-electric BMW i4. Unfortunately, AC Schnitzer is only offering suspension and body kit upgrades. No aerodynamic or energy-saving gains have been specified.

Unless customers opt for the dual-motor BMW i4 M50 (544 hp), they will have to be content with the 285 hp or 340 hp in the single-motor i4 eDrive35 and i4 eDrive40 respectively. Like the Brabus-tuned Mercedes-Benz EQS, no performance enhancements have been done, despite both companies’ history of juicing up petrol-powered cars.

For the BMW i4, AC Schnitzer is offering a suspension kit. This lowers the car by about 20 mm to 25 mm at the front and rear. AC Schnitzer says this ensures better agility and precision in handling due to the lower centre of gravity.

Visually obvious on the AC Schnitzer tuned BMW i4 are new wheels. Customers can choose from either the 20-inch AC4 flow forming wheels or 19/20-inch AC1 (BiColor Silver/Anthracite or Anthracite) wheels. To make them stick out more, AC Schnitzer also offers a set of 10 mm spacers made of black anodized aluminium.

As for the aero kit, AC Schnitzer has spruced up the BMW i4 by giving it a front spoiler element complemented by front splitters. A different set of front splitters is also provided for those who don’t want the front spoiler element.

Over in the rear, the BMW i4 can be equipped with an AC Schnitzer rear roof spoiler, carbon rear spoiler, and rear side wings. Also offered by AC Schnitzer for the i4 are an AC Schnitzer package that runs across the sides, a rear skirt protection film, and AC Schnitzer stickers.

To enhance the interior, BMW i4 owners can opt for AC Schnitzer aluminium pedals, aluminium cover for the I Drive system controller, and an aluminium key holder.

If you’d like to see a properly souped-up version of BMW’s all-electric i4, we suggest you check out this EV ‘M3’ prototype that BMW is currently working on. It seems like an all-electric M3 is in the works, and the body of the i4 M50 is being used as a base for the prototype. In Malaysia, the BMW i4 is currently offered in the i4 eDrive 40 and i4 M50 guises.
