73 left homeless after fire razes wooden houses in Sibu
A total of 73 people from nine families became homeless when seven wooden houses in Kampung Bahru in Sibu, Sarawak were destroyed in a noon fire on Friday.

Central Zone Bomba chief Wan Kamaruddin said 25 firemen were dispatched to the scene but it took them 40 minutes to contain the fire due to hot weather and strong wind.

The cause of the fire was not yet known, but the department said that they would send a forensic expert to do an investigation.

A strange fire incident happened in 2016 when firemen were dispatched only to find that the people in the vicinity mistook dengue fogging for fire.
