At about 2pm, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) officers moved in to seize the boat, which was carrying some 100kg catch believed to be made in local waters.
MMEA Second District enforcement chief First Admiral (M) Kamaruszaman Abu Hassan said the boat was first located 39 nautical miles southwest of Pulau Kendi. He said the boat’s skipper and his three crew members, all aged between 25 and 30 were brought to the Batu Maung LKIM Jetty for investigation.
"The boat went beyond 36.4 nautical miles beyond the Malaysia-Indonesia borders towards southwest of Penang," he said in a statement issued earlier this morning.
