Thaipusam 2012 has just come to an end and yet again the whole celebration has mesmerized and entertained.
From the beautiful colorful Saris and traditional dress of those watching the procession to the painful but dramatic pilgrimage of the Kavadi, Thaipusam once again has left a lasting impression.
Thaipusam on Penang attracts devotees and tourists alike from near and far to observe and take part. Going on the numbers queuing to climb the hill to the temple on Tuesday, it must bring an incredible number of people to our island.
I had heard figures of 800,000 people mentioned, easy to believe when you experienced the crowds first-hand.
Below we have an article on Thaipusam kindly contributed by James Springer of That LIttle Wine Bar and Irrawaddy Fine Foods.
